| 内容記述 | Six examples of gigantic landslides, Mt. Katsuro (1683), Wakuike (1847), Tobi-Kuzure (1858), Mt Bandai (1888), Totsukawa (1889), and Mt. Hieda (1912), were discussed, in addition to the older 6 examples given in part I (Hirano, 1981). All of them brought historically famous disasters. Their topographic features were detected on aerial photographs even today. Larger number of them were triggered by an earthquake, and suddenness of the mass-movement has resulted in the serious hazard killing a lot of persons. The gigantic landslide occurred just on valley wall dams up the stream below the slope, and the stored water results in extraordinary flood after the break down of the natural dam. Geographic distribution of 12 examples shows the histrorical process of extention of Ökumene in Japan. This is just the feature of the hazard unlike the mass-movement itself simply as a natural phenomenon. The modern example of Ontake in 1984 should be included in this category because of the resulted hazard and of the dramatic change in topography after that due to a huge amount of the debris removed. | |||||
